Today I stopped in Toys R Us while out and about, mainly looking for the new Hatchimals blind box clip-ons. I didn't find any of those, but I did finally stumble across the exclusive Owlicorn Colleggtibles. I really don't collect the Colleggtibles, as I'm just not overly fond of them and I also have a tendency to lose tiny things, but I do like the Colleggtibles that actually are based on the same designs of the larger Hatchimals. I'm kind of obsessed with the idea of all my Hatchimals having mini-mes someday. Luckily, with the Owlicorns, it's easy to ensure you won't get doubles, based on the colors of the nests that come with them, so I was able to get the full set, and I made a little video opening them. (It's awkward because I had a lot of stuff on the bed and had a hard time setting the iPad up, and also because I'm not sure I want my face seen when this account is public, but hopefully it's somewhat enjoyable.)

So remember, if you're wanting any specific set of these, the darker blue nest matches the wave 1 Owlicorns (darker pink and blue), the aqua blue nest matches the Gittering Garden Owlicorns (aqua blue and brighter pink), and the pink nest comes with the Owlicorns that don't exist yet in large form (purple and light blue). I have a group shot here on Instagram.

Like I said in the video, I need to do a real Hatchimals update soon! The family has grown so much from the last Hatchimal post I did here about Polly-O and Cassie! I just really, really love these toys. <3

Hopefully no one's sick of my Hatchimals yet. I'm just super into them right now and they're a huge part of my motivation to post more doll/toy stuff.

First up, yesterday my boyfriend picked me up a Penguala from GameStop. He knew I was in need of one to complete my collection of every species of Hatchimal, so he grabbed it for me. I took a couple videos of it hatching this morning:

His name is Polly-O, because from the second I saw this particular Hatchimal in pictures, I've related him to the Polly-O String Cheese mascot from my childhood.

I was lucky enough to get another Hatchimal while out and about today, but this time, the experience wasn't so great.

I've definitely not been put off of ever buying another Hatchimal, as I really do love the toys just for what they are. Any more that I get in the near future will likely come from eBay though, as I'm kind of at the point where I either have or don't particularly care for one of the color options in each egg, so it'd be better to know what I'm getting.

We got a package in the mail today and Luna was very, very excited to see what, or rather who, was inside.

(This video didn't really go as planned, but I guess Hatchimals, like pets, are quite unpredictable at times.)

We're so excited that you're here, Lumi! And I wish I hadn't had to work until 8PM tonight!

A sort of "second wave" of Hatchimals has begun appearing in stores over the past couple of weeks, known as "Glittering Garden". I've looked for them a bit here and there while out and about, but really wasn't expecting to find one for awhile. However, today I walked into the toy section at Target, and right on an endcap were two Glittering Garden Draggles! I was super excited and scooped up the one closest to me. I've really been wanting a Draggle and have come close to buying one a few times in the past, but I really was trying to hold out for Glittering Garden because I like the color options better, and of course, I thought the glitter aspect sounded neat. I probably would've grabbed a GG Penguala too if they'd had one, but I was just super happy to find the Draggle.

Oh hey, remember me? Looks like I abandoned this journal for over two months. *sigh* I guess some things never change; I'd always disappear from my LJ doll journal for long periods of time too, and I actually let my old doll Tumblr account sit for so long that it now has "blog1" attached to the URL. Oh well. My last post here was right around Easter and on Easter Sunday itself, my life took yet another turn for the not-so-great, so finding the motivation to take pictures and things has been hard, as has finding the time, as always. (Sidenote: Today, since I actually had the motivation, of course my camera battery was completely, won't-even-turn-for-five-seconds dead. So any pictures you see here are from my phone today.)

Anyway, I'm sure if you were anywhere but under a rock for the 2016 holiday season, you know about the Hatchimals craze. My job actually wound up directly involved at one point, because, even though we're a grocery store that just barely has a toy section, we did get in a few Hatchimals over the course of the season (usually maybe four at a time) but some genius didn't put them live on our website until they were already long gone. So one day, we wound up with thirteen orders in the Shop From Home department just for Hatchimals, some customers planning to come from several hours away just to get one.

I was curious about them, being a toy collector and also because I was absolutely obsessed with the original Furbies when they came out in the late 90s. I was lucky enough to get one that Christmas, though they were as hard to get as the Hatchimals, if not more, thanks to my aunt's stepdaughter who worked at drug store at the time, and from the moment I got my hands on it, all I wanted was all Furby everything, for probably a good two years or so after the initial release. I had boxes full of the McDonald's toy Furbies, a Furby backpack, Furby keychains, just about every bean bag non-interactive version they made, and even eventually a second Furby and a Furby Baby. I was even going to have a Furby theme for my birthday one of those years, but the party store in town closed down before I could get the supplies. I was a bonafide Furby nut...I even had a this little figure I'd gotten from a craft fair, of a Furby next to an acorn with googly eyes, that said "Furby Nut" right on it. So needless to say, I tend to take an interest in toys that remind me of the original Furby.

I actually got two of the newer Furbies for Christmas in 2012, and I really wasn't overly impressed with them. The colors were fun and they were cuter than previous reincarnations of the Furby, more true to the original design, but I just never bonded with them in the same way. Play was largely app-based, and also, they could switch personalities based on how you played with them and what they were exposed to, and all but one of the personalities, I personally found beyond annoying. They also had no off switch and took way too many batteries. So I've been a little wary of new electronic toys since my experiences with the 2012 Furbies, but with all the talk about Hatchimals, it was hard not to be curious.

I think it's safe to say I'm progressing from a Furby nut to Hatchimal nut.
